Though I personally love to ‘floint’, I also find it fun to encourage students to explore both pointing and flexing individually in the posture. Not only does this promote awareness and awakening in the ankle joint and foot foundation, students can begin to notice the different internal effects each foot position creates. For instance, a pointed foot can encourage a sense of elongation and length in the leg (as if extending their limb beyond the physical body) while flexed foot can enhance feelings of engagement, stability and broader connection to hip joint and core body. Also each foot position creates subtle differences in muscular activation that students can begin to tune into.
happy exploring!
