Hi Sonja and all others intrested in PMS relief!!
Here’s what I have found useful for myself and clients for PMS type symptoms
Asanas -* Sirsasana (*not during cycle), Paschimottanasana, Uttanasana, Baddha Padmasana, Yogamudrasana, Vriasana, Maricyasana 3, Urdhva Dharnurasana, Svasana, and alternate nostril breathing.
- resource from Light on Yoga, Iyengar
Check out when you are cycling - full moon/ dark moon/ in between. Each represent a different energy and if for example you are being very expressive, open, sharing during your dark moon phase you may be working against yourself.
Living on an island literally RIGHT beside the ocean I found the most connection to the tide, the moon, and my mind, and body. I believe it!!
For nutrition: Taken from C. Northrup’s book Womens Bodies Womens Wisdom
Factors contributing to PMS:
High consumption of dairy product
Excessive consumption of caffiene -soft drinks, coffe, choclate :(
Excessive consumption of refined sugar and not enough whole foods
A relativley high blood level of estrogen, resulting either from overproduction from dietary and body fat or from the decreased breakdown of estrogen in the liver. High estrogen levels are associated with deficiencies of B vits
Okay, so if your diet is clean and you have all your base nutrients in ie: cal/mag, antiox, multi vit, efa then begin to add herbs from the western or eastern approach, but only if you got all the other bases covered.
And get some sleep. REST REST REST. No climbing, No vigorus yoga...REST REST REST.
Your cycle is the most amazing time and a woman is so incredibly intuitive and sensitive during her moon time. Protect yourself. Wear socks, cover your neck, belly botton… carry some hematite.
*I strongly suggest you check out the moon cycle*
Okay, best wishes!
Jess
